Municipality: Saraj | Target area: Radusha village | Project name: Inclusive park and sensory room at “Faik Konica” elementary school in Radusha

The school is located in a rural environment and is a school where lessons are taught in the Albanian language. The school also includes students with disabilities, some of them have limited movement and obstacles in physical development. The school makes great efforts in terms of providing the best conditions for learning, recreation and socialization of students and the essential inclusion of students with disabilities. What surrounds the essential thinking is that, for essential inclusion to occur, it is more important to create conditions for the mutual socialization of students inside and outside the classroom. Thus, students will learn from each other and remove barriers and stigmatization of students with disabilities.

The school lacks a space that is dedicated to students with limited mobility so that they are able to socialize, learn and share time with their friends. The inclusive parks implemented by the project are places that allow socialization, sports and recreation. The idea comes as a need of the local population and from the exchange of experiences with schools that have implemented similar projects for this target group.

Besides being a great place for recreation and sports, these inclusive parks also represent a symbol of inclusion in their societies. Within this settlement, this will be the first inclusive park and will be a symbol of the inclusion of all residents.

The inclusive park will be installed in the school yard, which is protected. It will have an area of about 60m2, and there will be an accessible route for people with disabilities to reach the park itself. The school itself will take care of the maintenance of the inclusive park, while after supplying the necessary equipment, responsible teachers, in cooperation with a special educator and rehabilitator, will develop a program for students who need to improve their motor skills, while the rooms sensory will be a space dedicated to the children who need its use from this village, have all the necessary and contemporary conditions to spend part of the day in these school spaces, thus facilitating the lives of these children and their parents.
